Something that cannot miss on a Portuguese table is olive oil, our national gold!
Olive oil is excellent to season fish, salads and vegetables, and due to its monounsaturated fat it also helps in lowering bad cholesterol levels, the terrible LDL.

Its extra-virgin type prevents as well biological oxydations, for it is rich in vitamin E and polyphenol, and reduces the formation of free radicals that are the true responsible for ageing and several degenerative diseases, such as cancer.
