Exaggerate in the consumption of fats is one of the most common food mistakes. Concerning to energy, the fat is harmful and causes weight gain, because a gram of fat has about 9 calories.
The biggest danger of fat is not limited to the caloric intake but mainly to the quality of fats normally ingested. Most of the fats consumed are saturated and are obtained from red meat and its derivatives, such as sausages. The fried food also contributes to a negative picture, but even a meal baked in the oven is harmful if we are not careful about the quantity and quality of the grease used.
We should always use healthy fats like extra virgin olive oil, but even these must be in moderate amounts.
For cooking or seasoning, a tablespoon of olive oil is enough. In vegetable fats, as ordinary cooking oils, we always prefer those who are extracted in cold, such as sunflower oil.
Poor-quality fats are those that are saturated, hydrogenated, overheated and used more than once for the same purpose.
Therefore, we should not reuse fats previously subjected to heat, as happens when one uses the same oil to fry twice.
